Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2 Trailer Is Charming And Fun
One of the most appealing aspects of Netflix original series has to be the option to binge-watch an entire season at once. The downside is that feeling of emptiness many of us get after reaching the end of the show and having nothing to do but wait a whole year for more. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was such a fabulously hilarious original series that the first season felt entirely too short. Luckily for Netflix subscribers everywhere, Season 2 is on the way, and the first trailer is positively charming and fun. Check it out!
If you felt the urge to clap your hands and/or jump up and down after watching the trailer, don’t be ashamed. The bright and sunny Kimmy Schmidt has been known to have that effect on even the grouchiest of viewers. It’s really kind of impossible not to smile at a show when the main character’s epic burn of her roommate is calling him "Mr. Sassafras Jeans," especially when he’s being as fierce as Titus Andromedon.
The trailer might be less than two minutes in length, but it is long enough to give a look at most of the best characters of Season 1 who will be back for Season 2. Ellie Kemper looks adorable as Kimmy in the elf costume for her new job at the year-round Christmas store, Tituss Burgess as Titus Andromedon is already hysterical in completely out-of-context clips, Jane Krakowski as Jacqueline Voorhees is as determined as ever, and Carol Kane has recovered well enough from being murdered on Gotham to reprise her delightfully kooky role of landlady Lillian Kaushtupper.
Unfortunately, there’s no sign just yet if Kimmy’s "Bunny and Kitty" song is actually part of a backdoor pilot for an upcoming Bunny and Kitty animal mystery series on Netflix. Honestly, if Bunny and Kitty came from the same team behind Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, it would probably be fantastic. As long as it featured the occasional cameo from Kimmy and Titus, I’d definitely tune in.
There was never really any reason to doubt that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt would be able to bring the laughs thanks to that team behind the scenes. Tina Fey brought her magic touch (as well as Jane Krakowski) from network television after the finale of her sitcom 30 Rock. Considering that Netflix saved the show when it seemed doomed never to happen over at NBC, the success of Kimmy Schmidt has been great news for everybody involved.
Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will premiere on Friday, April 15 at 12:01 a.m. PT on Netflix. For those of us who will likely have finished the entire season by that Sunday, we can at least sleep well in the knowledge that the show has already been renewed for Season 3.
