The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Trailer Features Mourning And A New Love Interest
The Vampire Diaries took a ballsy turn at the end of Season 5, collapsing the Other Side portal and taking several of the show’s characters with it. Series lead and vampire Damon was unable to return to the human realm in the finale, and in the new Season 6 trailer for the series his great love, Elena, mourns while Damon’s brother seems perfectly content to get some action in the bedroom. Check it out, below.
There are three key points in The Vampire Diaries trailer that are important to touch on. The focus, of course, is on Elena, who is feeling pretty low after learning Damon did not return from the Other Side. If you can remember that epic and anguished cry face from last spring’s finale, you can probably imagine how low she is still feeling in the trailer for Season 6. At one point, instead of crying, she gets a little violent and starts breaking things, leading me to believe it could be a while before she totally stabilizes herself on the series. Even an ethereal Damon is telling her to move on by the end of this trailer. Maybe if she does, she regain some of her pre-lovesick spark.
Luckily, Stefan doesn’t seem nearly as broken up about the state of things as Elena does. He’s busy getting laid, although he tells the new mystery chick in the trailer that he is a vampire only after they seem to know each other pretty well physically. I have no idea if this is a new love interest or a fling, but I do know The Vampire Diaries often thrives with romance, and I’d be happy to see someone have a good time in a relationship.
Oh yeah, and several times throughout the trailer, we are informed that Mystic Falls has remained supernatural free. At one point, however, a creepy creature seems to be stalking in the woods, so we’ll have to see how that plotline pans out. Although there are a lot of plot threads leftover from Season 5, my money’s still on the writers blowing through Elena’s grief as quickly as possible to move on to another storyline. After all, that’s the Vampire Diaries/ The Originals way.
If you are curious about Stefan’s love interest or Elena’s heartbreak, you won’t have much longer to wait to catch new episodes of The Vampire Diaries. Unlike a few CW shows that were relegated to a midseason premiere, The Vampire Diaries will hit the schedule on Thursday, October 2 at 8 p.m. ET. You can catch the rest of this fall’s TV premiere dates, here.
