The Walking Dead Plans Marathon, Pays Tribute To The Governor
Don’t click the video or read on if you aren’t currently caught up on AMC’s The Walking Dead. Some spoilers were involved in the making of this article.
The Walking Dead, like many other popular television shows, is currently in the middle of a winter hiatus. The show left us with an explosive midseason finale on December 1, an episode that featured plenty of death and carnage. The zombie drama had been hinting at a major battle between leader Rick and the sociopath the Governor since we first met the latter in Season 3. With the prison set up nicely as a battleground, we finally were able to say goodbye to the Governor and this week AMC released a fitting tribute for the character, which features interviews from David Morrissey, Robert Kirkman and many others detailing their feelings about the man and his eventual gruesome end.
The midseason finale was a pretty tough episode to get through, emotionally, and there is a lot that happened during a relatively short period of time. If you would like to re-peruse this fall's episodes, or you know someone who has been dying to get into the drama, this month AMC is putting together a Walking Dead marathon that might be right up your alley. Starting with Season 1, the marathon will chronicle Rick’s crew through strife and turmoil for two days, beginning on December 31 at 9 a.m. ET. The marathon will run for several days until 5 a.m. on January 2, 2014.
The Walking Dead’s not the only series AMC is pimping out for ratings over the holiday hiatus. Breaking Bad is also getting a complete marathon, so if you are one of those viewers who returned to the series for the final eight episode, you’ll have plenty of time to catch up on all of the stuff that went on in between. Both dramas are also available on Netflix, although Breaking Bad inconveniently doesn’t include the last half of Season 5 and The Walking Dead doesn’t include this fall’s episodes, so you won’t be able to get quite the same binge watch effect that AMC’s marathons will give you.
Plus, AMC has graciously put together a sweet marathon preview for the Breaking Bad complete marathon and the Walking Dead New Year’s marathon.
The Walking Dead is not set to return for the latter half of Season 4 until well after the holidays. The show won’t return to the schedule until February 9, 2014, but at least AMC has already cobbled together a preview foreshadowing what is to come on the drama.
