The Walking Dead Season 5 First Look Photo Shows Rick On The Lookout

It's about this time of year that AMC gives us our first teasy glimpse of the upcoming season of The Walking Dead. In fact, almost a year to the day, AMC teased Season 4 last year with a Rick picture, vaguely showing off Andrew Lincoln's character in the woods. For Season 5's big first look, we have Rick looking roughed up as he peers out of somewhere... a railroad car, perhaps? Very possibly.
Unlike last year's First Look image, Season 5's preview doesn't even hint at the presence of an actual zombie in Rick's vicinity. But given how things left off when The Walking Dead's fourth season left off, walkers aren't exactly at the top of the list of threats for Rick and his group. And it's obviously at this point that you want to stop reading if you're not caught up through Season 4!
When Season 4 left off, Rick, Michonne, Daryl and Carl were reuniting with Glenn, Maggie, Bob, Sasha and their new friends, who were being held inside a railroad car at "Terminus," the supposed shelter where those who arrive survive. Suffice to say, it wasn't a happy reunion, unless you consider the likely relief they felt at seeing their old friends alive (for now).
Terminus wasn't a complete lie though, as those who arrived have technically survived so far, but it's evident that the people living at the facility have sinister motives (and possibly sinister appetites), and Rick's people seem to have fallen right into their trap. Fortunately, there are still a few of them on the outside -- Carol and Tyreese, mainly, since we probably can't count on Beth rescuing anyone anytime soon -- and we know Rick's willing to do whatever it takes to protect his people, as evidenced in the finale when Carl was at the mercy of a very aggressive man.
The new picture doesn't give us a whole lot to ponder, but it does a nice job of teasing the series' planned return this fall. AMC typically gives us some footage from the upcoming season during Comic-Con in July, so it may be a while before we see video, but hopefully we'll get some more tidbits about what's planned for Season 5 between now and then. In the meantime, you can read our full breakdown of everything we know so far about Season 4 of The Walking Dead here.
