Watch Agent Carter Dive Into Her Double Life In This Sweet Video
When Agent Carter airs next week, viewers will watch as Peggy Carter uses her talents as a spy to stop criminals and evildoers. Check out this behind-the-scenes look at how she will deal with living two lives. She may be a skilled operative, but don’t think it will be easy for her.
We’re less than a week away from the debut of eight-part limited series, and with each new promo that Marvel releases, we get a better idea of what the titular protagonist will be dealing with on a weekly basis. In this video, Haley Atwell talks about Peggy’s double life in the series. By day she’s working for the Strategic Scientific Reserve, albeit in a somewhat diminished capacity. By night, though, she’s putting her spy skills to the test by tracking down the individuals who have obtained Howard Stark’s weapons.
One of the primary skills a spy needs to have is the ability to blend in undercover, and when she dons that evening gown, blonde wig and convincing American accent, Carter has an effective disguise to snoop around without drawing attention. Of course, sometimes things don’t go well undercover, which is why it’s also good she has the fighting skills necessary to take out anyone trying to kill her.
The preview also gives us brief glimpses of some of the people she’ll be interacting with, such as Boardwalk Empire alum Shea Whigham as series regular SSR Chief Roger Dooley, TV veteran Ray Wise as Hugh Jones in Episode 2, as well as a few of the bad guys she’ll be beating to a pulp.
Of course, her fighting and spy skills are only part of the character. Atwell also points out that viewers will see the emotional and psychological cost her character faces. As well, the show will explore her dealing with two lives: that of an SSR agent who is struggling with her male coworkers doubting her, and that of an independent operator who’s trying to make sure no one uses Howard’s destructive devices.
It’s worth remembering that this series takes place in 1946, meaning that on top of all this, Carter is also still dealing with losing Steve Rogers in World War II. It’s probably an understatement to say that she has a lot on her plate, but as we saw in Captain America: The First Avenger, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and her One-Shot, this is a woman who can get the job done no matter what.
You can catch the two hour premiere of Agent Carter next Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
