Watch George R.R. Martin Judge These Epic Game Of Thrones Costumes

Late Night with Seth Meyers isn’t as known for viral videos as his network partner Jimmy Fallon, but on Thursday night NBC's Late Night called upon the talents of none other than George R.R. Martin to judge some pretty interesting Game of Thrones costumes. You can check out what the Song of Ice and Fire series author has to say to those who played a clash of costumes, below.

Alright, we will say it does take George R. R. Martin a little while to get going. The man is wordy when he writes and wordy when he talks, and it takes him a while to get to the point. Luckily, when he gets into the pictures, it’s pretty good. Go ahead and skip in to the 25 second mark, where George R.R. Martin discusses a variety of costumes based on his hit books and HBO’s popular TV series, which is currently in production for Season 5. Plenty of ladies like to dress up as Daenerys, but there are a couple of costumes that totally crush this competition. The first is the couple dressed up as the Red Viper and his paramour, Ellaria Sand.

Personally, I’m pretty stoked about the above costumes, but I don’t seem to be in agreement with the bestselling author. The one George R.R. Martin seems to be smitten over, however, is this amazing version of The Hound.

As the story goes, George R.R. Martin ran into the dude with the fabulous Hound costume at Comic-Con, which apparently earned him some major brownie points with the author. Martin says the dude is huge in real life and put together an “astonishing” costume, complete with a helmet. Martin also says he’d better declare him the winner, or “he might come to my house.”

There are a few others in the video that are worth seeing, including a dude dressed as Hodor and another gentleman who had on a pretty specific George R. R. Martin costume. Give it a watch and then let us know whether or not you or someone you know has topped the Game of Throne looks in the comments.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35 p.m. ET.
