Watch The Latest Chapter In The Matt Damon And Jimmy Kimmel Feud
Most celebrity feuds aren’t particularly fun to watch unfold, but the one between Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel that has been ongoing for around a decade now has never been anything but entertaining. The men have been trading jabs back and forth more and more often in recent years, and the latest chapter in the quasi-quarrel is one of the funniest of all. Check it out!
The Matt Damon/Jimmy Kimmel feud is perhaps funniest because of how nonsensical it’s been from the very beginning. What started as a running joke of Kimmel “bumping” Matt Damon from Jimmy Kimmel Live! every night escalated into Matt Damon retaliating for the constant snubbing…via music video. Damon teamed up with Kimmel’s then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman for a rendition of the world’s catchiest song about very specific infidelities. Kimmel fired back with a music video featuring Damon’s BFF Ben Affleck in a similar scenario.
The years since the 2009 music video duel have seen more and more Damon vs. Kimmel clashes. Matt Damon finally appeared in person so that he could kidnap Kimmel to take over and live the dream of bumping his archenemy for the night.
This latest clash of the celebrity feuding titans saw things get ugly as Kimmel decided that even a charity special was not reason enough to mend fences for an evening, insisting on first keeping Damon in an underground dungeon of a dressing room and then stopping Damon from getting a word in when he called in to chat. In fact, Kimmel proved himself an evil genius when he figured out that Matt Affleck from Boston was a pseudonym used by Matt Damon. Who but a mortal enemy could have seen through such a ruse?
Damon’s decision that revenge in this case was dish best served directly into the gas tank of Kimmel’s car was fitting for the constant snubbing over the previous twelve years. Despite the dungeon dressing room and the gas tank prank, both men getting the giggles in their final car confrontation was the funniest part of this latest chapter. It turns out that even the most elaborate of fake feuds cannot hold up to everything ridiculous.
This latest chapter of the strife couldn’t have come at a better time. Ratings for Jimmy Kimmel Live! have been known to jump for a Matt Damon appearance, and this particular episode featured a celebrity shopathon of Omaze experiences to raise money for the (RED) fight against AIDS. Kimmel and Damon brought a good amount of laughs for a very good cause, and the video of their latest battle is more than worth a rewatch.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC.
