Weeds' Final Season Will Be Available On Blu-ray In February
Despite a few less than stellar episodes toward the end of Weeds’ run, it’s hard to believe Showtime’s anchor series will no longer be a mainstay on the subscription cable network. Season 8 of Weeds was filled with more trials and tribulations for Nancy Botwin (as well as plenty of bouts of selfishness). If you’d like to get your hands on a copy of the final season, Weeds: Season Eight will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on February 12.
Season 8 of the Weeds began where Season 7 left off, with a sniper targeting a shot on Nancy. The action didn’t end there, as the rest of the season saw Nancy and the gang moving to New York, as her kids continued to grow up and get their lives together. Season 8 ended on a satisfying note, and if you want to complete your collection or just see how the Botwins finished out the series, the 13-episode set actually looks pretty nice, although I get the feeling a full-series set might get ordered at some point, if you have the patience to wait.
Both Blu-ray and DVD copies of Weeds: Season Eight will come with a few basic extras, including audio commentaries, a gag reel (always nice with a comedy), and deleted scenes. Additionally, both sets will come with a couple of featurettes, including one that looks at the history of the marijuana pill that pops up during a plotline in the season. Perhaps due to both sets coming with the same fodder, they will run similarly priced, with DVD copies costing $39.98 and Blu-ray copies costing $39.97. You can check out the full list of extras, below.
