This Week's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. To Feature A Special Captain America: The Winter Soldier Ending?
Marvel Studios has become somewhat notorious for their post-credits sequences. Every single one of their films ends with a special little tag that hints at some kind of future adventure, and it serves as a great reward for audiences who are willing to stick around in the theater even after the main part of the movie has ended. Marvel's television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has played around with this idea a bit as well, with special events/scenes occasionally coming together while the credits roll... and apparently there is a special one coming up.
Maurissa Tancharoen, one of the executive producers on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has cryptically revealed on Twitter that viewers of next week's episode will be getting a special Captain America: The Winter Soldier themed treat at the very end of the hour:
While we are extremely curious about what Marvel is specifically planning, it definitely isn't a surprise that they're doing something that links the series to the latest Marvel blockbuster (which hits theaters here in the United States on Friday). Just like it did when Thor: The Dark World came out in November of last year, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be airing a special Captain America: The Winter Soldier-affected episode in the coming weeks. Perhaps what ends this week's show just starts setting everything up for that Cap episode to happen. Having seen the new Captain America movie, I can tell you that the film has an absolutely massive effect on the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that most definitely includes Agent Coulson and his crew.
The next episode, titled "End of the Beginning", will air tomorrow night, April 1st, in its usual 8pm EST/PST timeslot. You can read the plot description below, which also confirms the return of some pretty awesome guest stars:
In addition to Paxton and J. August Richards as Mike Peterson/Deathlok, the episode will also once again feature Saffron Burrows as Victoria Hand, Titus Welliver as Agent Felix Blake and Maximiliano Hernandez as Agent Jasper Sitwell. You can watch the promo for the episode below as well as a trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
