What Tommen Thinks Of That Big Game Of Thrones Sex Scene
Although Tommen Lannister’s recent wedding to Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones went down without a hitch, it did come with a bit of an ick factor to the fans who caught Sunday’s big marital event. Interestingly, Dean-Charles Chapman, the 17-year-old boy who plays Tommen on the hit series, spoke out this week to explain how he feels about the bedroom scene he shot with 33-year-old Natalie Dormer.
That is truly spoken like a red-blooded 17-year-old boy who is both intellectually aware of how off-putting the scene is for viewers and also pretty stoked about filming a bedroom scene with an attractive older lady. In a way, that split reaction is also likely one his character is feeling, too. Even if he’s not fully aware of how much he’s being manipulated, he likely knows that Margaery holds a lot of power over him, even though he’s the new King. It’s a strange thing for a new king to deal with, but given how much fun he’s having, it’s unlikely he would actually choose to change it. Dean-Charles Chapman certainly wouldn’t.
The actor goes on to tell MTV that the show spent a lot of time figuring out how best to put together the scene for the HBO drama. Apparently, few people were in the room while the scene was shot, in order to make Chapman, but also presumably Dormer, as comfortable as possible. And while audiences were spared from having to know all of the dirty details about Tommen’s first time having sex onscreen, Chapmen did share a few more amusing details with fans.
I love this kid’s sense of humor. It’s too bad that he’s a character on Game of Thrones, a series that frequently kills off its kings. That’s not a spoiler alert, per se, just rather a prediction. Game of Thrones has been pushing further and further away from its book counterpoints recently, and it is tough to tell where the series is headed during Season 5 and beyond.
On the bright side, Game of Thrones isn’t going anywhere, even with its creeptastic sex scenes. The show is still crushing in the ratings, and has already been renewed for Season 6. In addition, here’s everything that has been going on in Season 5 so far.
