Why Ronda Rousey Is Apologizing For A Tonight Show Photo
Ronda Rousey is no joke. The woman is a mixed martial arts champion and actress who can pretty much kick anyone’s ass four times over and barely break a sweat. But, because every badass is still a person, there are some things that get to her. And she just made an apology for something most people wouldn’t guess would bug her.
Ronda Rousey posted this apology on her Instagram page, and I think most of us can agree that, unless you look really hard, without her telling us what the problem is, we simply wouldn’t get it. This is certainly a lot like one of those one-thing-is-not-like-the-other mind games from the newspaper (ah, the old days). Apparently, Rousey was a guest recently on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and, for promotional purposes I assume, was given a photo of herself from the show to share with her followers on various social media platforms. Unfortunately, Rousey noticed something fishy with the photo after she’d already sent it out.
Well, that photo she shared had been altered. If you look closely at the arm closest to the camera, it’s been edited ever so slightly in order for it to look smaller and less pleasantly round than it actually is. And, Rousey was not happy about it. She took to Instagram to apologize and tell her followers that she thinks this edit “goes against everything” that she believes. She also assured everyone that “she’s extremely proud of every inch” of her body.
While Rousey makes note of the fact that this was done to her photo with “severely misplaced positive intentions,” it does make a lot of sense that this would stick in her craw. This woman has worked very hard to be the best in her field, and that means perfecting her physique to a degree that most of us could never hope to reach. She’s the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion (she held the title for 1,074 days) and the last Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion. She was also the first woman from the United States to win an Olympic medal in judo. And, people love her dedication to MMA and her general badassedness.
So, while most of us would love to have someone automatically make our wobbly bits a little more streamlined in photos, Ronda Rousey is having none of that. I’d say whoever did this better be careful not to do it again. They probably wouldn’t like her when she’s angry.
