Wilfred Preview: Season 2, Episode 5 - Control
The second season of Wilfred had been going pretty well until ”Now”. None of the previous installments had been able to live up to the potential of the special preview but the series had managed to string together a bunch of solid episodes. Last week, however, felt like Wilfred at its most formulaic and safe, which is not why anyone is tuning into the show about a man and his (man in a) dog (suit). I don’t think.
“Now” was also seriously lacking in the supporting character department, with not one of the recurring females making an appearance (I think Jenna might have been mentioned by name), but that doesn’t seem to be the case with “Control.” Ryan is planning some kind of dinner party and even though Wilfred promises to be on his best behaviour, it looks like things don’t go so smoothly for him and Amanda. Unless you consider a pantsing smooth.
The pantsing is just the beginning of the bumpy night for Ryan, with Wilfred not only gumming up the works with wine spills and ruining dessert but also meddling in the first meeting of Amanda and Jenna. Yes, that was Jenna’s arm you saw briefly in the clip (and single lock of blonde hair) so I’m sure Wilfred is doing everything he can to make his owner look better than the newcomer. Bear, however, seems like the perfect guest. “Control” airs Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on FX. Wilfred stars Elijah Wood, Jason Gann and Fiona Gubelmann.
