Wilfred Season 2, Episode 10 - Questions
After what was a solid, yet fairly standard, episode of Wilfred last week with "Honesty," it look's like "Questions" will be anything but a traditional sitcom. The FX comedy is always at it's most exciting when it completely runs off the rails and leaves all trappings of traditional television comedy behind and while the premise has certainly been done before, a drug trip to find oneself (hell, even Entourage had one), the preview makes "Questions" look unlike any that we've seen before.
The episode's name had me hoping that the titular "Questions" would revolve around the nature of Wilfred's existence and it seems that's exactly the case. With the help of a little, a lot of drugs and a stereotypical Native American spirit guide. And I love the line where the man-dog offers his services as a spirit animal, as if we weren't all already thinking that since the first season. A warped and sometimes selfish spirit animal, but one none the less.
What is perhaps the most exciting thing about the episode adopting the 'drug trip' narrative is that while "Ryan looks inward to discover the truth about Wilfred" (the official synopsis) the already bold cinematic series will get to experiment with the form even more. I can't wait to see what director Randall Einhorn has in store for the visuals as Ryan could lose his mind completely. Again, as if he hasn't already lost it...
Wilfred airs Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on FX. It stars Elijah Wood, Jason Gann and Fiona Gubelmann.
