iTunes Adds Bauer And The Slayer To Its Menu

The list of downloadable TV shows on iTunes has been growing steadily over the last few months. The most recent additions to the iTunes family includes heroes like Jack Bauer, Buffy Summers and that guy who keeps trying to break out of prison. iTunes just signed a deal with Fox which will allow them to offer a variety of Fox-owned shows including ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘24’, ‘Prison Break’ and more.

If you’re unfamiliar with iTunes, it’s a Mac-based (but Windows friendly) program with a variety of functions. The one most relevant to this article is the feature, which allows users to purchase and download TV shows by the season or per episode. The price as of right now is $1.99 per episode. The cost for the full season varies from show to show (usually based on how many episodes are in the season). Episodes can be viewed from your computer or transferred to a Video iPod.

The upside to iTunes TV downloads is you can get caught up on TV shows or watch your favorite episodes of older shows without having to purchase the full DVD set. The downside is that, though you pay $2 per episode, there’s no way to transfer the show to a DVD even if your computer is equipped with a DVD burner. Perhaps in one of the future upgrades iTunes will have DVD burning capabilities.
